Basebuilder Skill

Basebuilder creates new OpenClaw skills from a proven template.

Usage

openclaw skill basebuilder new <skill-name> [description]

This creates a new skill directory with:

• SKILL.md (metadata)
• index.js (CLI entrypoint)
• lib/ (helper modules)
• references/ (documentation)
• tests/ (test suite)
• README.md (usage guide)

Options:

• <skill-name>: lowercase, hyphenated (e.g., "my-skill")
• [description]: short description for SKILL.md

Example:

openclaw skill basebuilder new email-sender "Send emails via SMTP"

After creation:

1. Edit SKILL.md and index.js for your specific logic
2. Add tool permissions in openclaw.json (if needed)
3. Test with node skills/email-sender/index.js --help
4. Register with OpenClaw: openclaw skill install email-sender

Notes

• Basebuilder itself is a skill; it lives in skills/basebuilder/
• The generated skill uses Node.js and follows OpenClaw conventions
• Includes logging, error handling, and memory-db examples
